donut falls hike

We hiked donut falls with about 500 ohter people on the 24th of july, it was hot but for the most part we had fun, the kids favorite part was when we stopped for our snacks and they got to watch the squirrels in the trees. poor jason had a hurt back and a sprained wrist, so we didnt dare take the kids across and up the water to the actual donut of the falls, maybe next time.

we met at the west jordan park for her party, I thought it would be nice and shady, but it was pretty warm :/ this is dahlia blowing out her candles.

Have you noticed how plans have a way of changing themselves? As it happened to us this past weekend, sleeping in our sardine can of a tent, we couldn't help but be reminded of another big plan we had as newlyweds. As we looked at our little sardines, in their silent, still slumber, we couldn't help but be thankful that our plans had been changed.
When we bought our "4 man tent" it was just the two of us, we had only been married a few months and figured it would last us at least ten years, because we weren't going to have any children for five years. Here we are 8 years later with TWO children who were both born before we had been married for five years. Wow, were we off! A four man tent is not really comfortably big enough for four men, because it isn't comfortable for a family of four with two SMALL children!

We were going to go camping to fish lake for a day or two then head down to zions and then stay in a hotel in St. George. We did go camping in fish lake for a couple of nights, but then we decided St. George would be way TOO HOT! so instead we came back up to Salt Lake and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in west valley. You can see it from the freeway it is the one with the big red slide that starts inside, goes outside, then back in. turns out there is a little water park in the hotel. The kids LOVED it and we had a little stay-cation. we went to the movie and saw Zoo keeper, and went to the mall where we built-a-bear and picked out our own window stickers for each of our car windows.

Oh how I miss my simple life in Hyrum. I miss being able to choose if I want to be lazy or busy. Now I am always busy and when I am not I almost always choose to be lazy. Its kind of like I have so many things I could or should be doing that I get overwhelmed and so nothing I enjoy doing gets done :( So I need to find ways to make more time I guess, get more organized. if anyone has suggestions that work for you. also on how to prioritize because everything seems so important to me. that is all.

Dahlia played Tee-ball this fall, she loved it at first and had a great time, but she is glad to be done now.

Mickey was so excited to go to kindergarten the day of that he got up at 730 and got dressed, got his shoes on and backpack and asked me to brush his teeth. then he had to wait a few hours till it was time to go to afternoon kindergarten.
Jason and I were very happy that Mickey was excited we were nervous and thought he wouldn't want to go. He gave us such a hard time in pre-school.
Dahlia was excited too, she lined up with the class and when I told her we had to leave to go home she was upset, she wanted to stay and go to "inda arten".

without a home

I don't know if it was staying up too late last night, having a busy non stop day or or just emotions, but I had a bit of break down last night. Its not my first since moving and definitely not my first since selling our home.
I had a headache just as it was time for bed. Normally (when we had our own home) I would have gotten out my Christmas present from Jason that you warm u in the microwave and put on your head or shoulders or whatever is in pain and it takes the pain away and helps you fall asleep.
These days I don't know where anything is. so thinking about my heat pack and going to get it, I realized I don't know where it is. I remembered where I kept in MY home. I suddenly felt... lonely and like I didn't have a place where I belonged, nothing that defined me. I started missing my old Roles; neighbor, visiting teacher, house keeper, the mom who walked across the street with both kids to take her son to preschool, primary worker, friend to my friends in Hyrum. I started to really miss my visiting teachers and the friendship we had developed. I missed having people (beside family) in my live on a daily basis who sincerely care about me and my family.
I miss mostly my friendships that I made in Hyrum and that makes me feel lonely. I had such a sense of belonging and purpose in Hyrum in the community as well as at church.
I had my little break down, then decided I needed to get to bed, by now it was like 1 am. so I tried to calm myself down, and as soon as I decided to say a prayer, I was calmed down almost instantly. Times like this I am so glad to have my Heavenly Father to give me the strength to get through hard times.
I know my hard times are not THAT HARD but I was caught in a moment of weakness.
I still love living here. everything is still going really well (as far as I can tell) No one has told me what is driving them nuts about us living here. I am sure they just figure it is only for like five or six more weeks they can handle it till then.

preschool graduation

mickey graduated from preschool on May 20th. It wasnt the easiest thing for us. he would cry to go for the first few days both years. then each year when we would start talking about moving and our plans for school. Mickey would deal with the stress by not wanting to go to preschool, so he would act up and cry when it was time to go. Many times I left him crying in Miss Kris' arms. she was so good with him and loved him so much. we are so glad we got to know her and have her for Mickeys teacher. He has learned so much there. not only his letters, sounds, days of the week, holidays and numbers but also how to be a good friend how to take turns and be helpful.
Graduation is usually held outside in the yard, but this year was pooring so it got moved to inside the preschool room. It was a little cramped so I didn't get the best pictures. Mom, Dad and both Grandmas and Grandpas were able to come. after wards we went to Arctic circle for some ice cream and visiting. Mickey was in heaven sitting between both his Grandmas and Dahlia was so happy to be at another table with both her Grandpas and all their attention.
We are so glad everyone was able to make it and celebrate with us thanks Grandma Juwee, Grandma and Grandpa Torg and Grandpa Lylo!

life living at home again

We have now been living at my parents house for like six or five weeks. It has flown by! I really like living here, witch surprises me. I was actually really worried about it. worried about my kids driving every one nuts making messes all over and the house being too loud for the kids to sleep at night (there are two dogs that live here, that love to alert you when anyone is here or driving by or sometimes even when a bird flies by). We have a really loud fan in the kids room and the dogs are not quit as alert at night. Not sure if it is just because they are tired or if my mom is slipping them a Benadryl here and there. ;)
One nice thing about living here is the neighborhood. there are sooo many little kids on just this street! a lot of them are right around Mickeys age and they play so well with my kids, some days I hardly see them. I know kind of scary.
Yesterday Mickey told me they were going to have a water party, but we had to go to the dentist. Today all the kids came to our house and Mickey asked me to get the slip and slide out for the water party. I didnt know WE were hosting the water party! they all got their suits on and while I was setting up the slip and slide one of the girls says, "Dahlia I like your swimming suit, its cute." Mickey says, " uh.. no-one likes mine? its cheetah!" next thing I know they (all girls) are all telling Mickey they like his suit and telling him he is their favorite man and chasing him around the yard! Mickey loved it!
My parents are so good to help with the kids when they go to bed they want everyone to come lay with them! so annoying. Mickey loves my mom so I hardly see him if she is home, he is right by her side talking her ear off and asking all kinds of questions.
My mom is full of fresh ideas of what to make for dinner, so I don't have to rack my brain. and if I happen to make something. everyone is more then appreciative!
Its fun to spend time with my sisters and Kellen when he comes. I am enjoying it because I am not sure how often we will get to come up and see them when we move to salt lake and are living on my part time wages. :(
I hope the next two years go by as fast and as pleasantly as the first month and a half has! wish us luck!

I really had a lot of fun the first two and a half days of my color week, now I am tired and think I will pick back up next week. I know terrible, but I am tired! I have like four cold sores growing on my lip, that hurt so that I cant even smile, kiss Torgy Man, Torgy children or even close my mouth in a comfortable way. Poor Poor me :( .

I know this is a little late seeing as most already know our plans, but they have changed little by little and we have gone in circles trying to figure out how it is all going to work, but as of now.........
We will be closing on our house on the 28th(two weeks from wed.) that means we have to be out my the 29th(that Thursday) so moving day will be Saturday the 24th! we figured we would be able to get more help on a weekend then in the middle of the week.
but where you ask?
to my mommies house! for the summer
then to my mommies in law house! for tow years!
I bet the Torgerson's are so stoked! jk. ;)
We are very blessed to have wonderful parents who will provide us with not just a place to stay, but a home that is safe and loving!
(have you heard the song, by Carrie Underwood, I think it is called, "this is my temporary home" or something like that, that will be our theme song for the next couple of years!
I am sure I have not covered everything, because this is too simple and it did not feel simple a few weeks ago or even one week ago, so any questions ask, and Ill keep you updated as things may or may not change.

WE had an Easter egg hunt/basket hunt at our house and at Grandma Juwees house, Amy's boyfriend Kellen joined us too, then we jumped on the tramp and threw the football around and had a yummy meal!

we have been enjoying the fact that we can stay outside for longer then two minutes at a time. It is amazing how much I can get done when the kids are playing with outside together. they play so well out there as long as they are together. I love how they take care of each other they are so sweet!

Here is one more significant thing (well significant to me probably not to you) from my memory box. I am not one to hold on to many things for sentimental reasons, but this is one thing that I haven't been able to throw out.
It's this little tin can with an old fashioned girl on the front, that I really don't where it came from, but I keep it for the fact that it is the home to this little old fall red leave that I picked up probably like fifteen years ago because it reminded me of mom. My mom always told her kids about the fall leaves changing colors and how she loved to walk through them to hear the crunch they made. I love fall leaves too because of my mom and because of the beauty and the smell and sound they make.

Dahlia is a big girl! she uses the toilet all the time now. we do put a diaper on her at night, nap time and when on the go (so much easier then using public restrooms with a two year old.) the bag of diapers we have now should be our last! yay! my baby is not a baby anymore, kind of sad, mostly not!

What is your first memory of Valentines day? Remember the days when we got to make our own boxes for the Valentine party in Elementary? That was the best part of the Holiday for me and is what most of my memories of the heart filled day are made of.
The first Valentine Memory I can recall does not include the making of the box. Now remember that my memory is foggy, so if while telling of this memory it sounds a bit like a dream, where nothing really makes sense, we will blame my memory and the fact that I was very young at the time and my views life and time were very different from what they are now.
I think I was probably six or seven. I remember it was after school and all the Valentine hoopla with friends. I am quite certain that my Mom was usually the one who took care of all the holiday fun and gifts throughout most of my childhood.
That year was different for some reason. I remember being at home with my mom and siblings. We, were all hyped up on many sorts of sugars and excitement! My dad, I was told, was out getting our Valentines. I was so excited for him to come home to see what we got (greedy).
I don't think I even let my dad get past the entry way before demanding my gift. Dont really remember how the rest went, but I know I got a little red vinyl coin purse with gold a gold clasp, and I think my sister Amy got a blue one?
I suppose this is not what I had envisioned my Valentine should be. I'm not sure what I did, but I let my sweet dad (who had gone out and spent his night trying to pick out something he thought his little girls would like) know that I was not impressed nor was I happy with what I got!
Later, not sure if it was minutes, hours, days, weeks, or years, but later my mom and I had a talk (we use to have a lot of talks). She let me know how excited my dad was that he had found those cute little coin purses for us and how much he thought we would like them. I felt, and still feel, pain when I think of how I acted toward my dad, when he was giving me a thoughtful gift.

I keep it in my memory box to remind me of the love my dad has for me and everything he has done and continues to do for me. Also to remind me to not be a selfish brat. So sorry and sad to admit it, but this is an issue I have to continually work on.

I have a terrible short term memory and not a great long term memory, so I have box to keep things to help me remember. As most of you know we will be moving sometime in the next six months so I have been de-cluttering my house and moving this and that to our storage shed. When I got to my memeory box, I had shoved under my dresser, I stopped to look. I found lots of fun things that I have gone over every time I go through the box, but this time I found something I don't remember seeing before, but like I said, bad memory. It is a letter Amy wrote me when she was 6 1/2 and I was 9. I hope you enjoy its sweetness as much as I did when I read it for the first time again the other day.

The best part of the whole birthday was that Mickey insisted on having a Princess and the Frog cake. I tried to talk him into just doing the frog or doing something more boy like, but he said he loves the princess and wanted her! a few days earlier my mother in law found him kissing a picture of Princess Tiana. He told me that he like the way she looks, her face, and her dress and her brown.

After last years fiascoes we decided that one party would be plenty this year.
Mickey even said he didn't want ANY parties, but as his birthday got closer he decided he did want one with his grandmas and grandpas. He wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese so we thought that would be a good place to have everyone meet, so we wouldn't have to clean our house just to have it be a mess again. Not to mention the fact that our house was kind of torn apart from getting it ready to sell.
On mickeys birthday (last Tuesday) We gave mic his gifts. put blankets out on the floor, popped popcorn and watched Ratatouille, he got it as one of his gifts.

Jason and I just celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary!
Time really does fly when you have having fun!
Dahlia must be tuns of fun because ever since she showed up life and time has been a blur
I cant believe we have lived in our home for almost 3 years now ( I Love our home sweet home).

Jason and I were discussing our wedding day and things we remembered about it.

somehow Jason "remembers" my family being ornery and fighting that morning. We didn't even SEE him till we got to the temple and I think only me and my parents saw him, not the whole family. he obviously doesn't really remember it he just likes to tease me about it. Thanks Jason, I love you too.
I do know why he says this though. It is all thanks to my little sister Bobi, who was eight at the time. apparently she too remembers ME being ornery that morning, and she took it upon herself to inform the whole world about it! thanks Bobi.

Another memory we both remember well (I didn't think of until Jason brought it up). Sitting in the celestial room while our family and close friends gathered in the sealing room. It was time for just the two of us to relax with one another and enjoy each others company. The rest of the day seemed to be about everyone or everything else, you know?

I remember after being sealed Jason and I and our Moms walking to the elevator talking. don't know what we talking about or anything, but I mostly remember an overall happy feeling we all shared. You can tell that was one of my memories (kinda weird).

then we changed and went outside for pictures in the freezing cold with no flowers! and the lady doing our video making us run around the trees, now everyone makes fun of it. oh well what ev.

Then we went back into the temple to change again! into street clothes.
I am not sure why, but Jason had my car that day and drove it to the temple (probably because I didn't want to ride in his little rusty pick up on our wedding day). anyway after changing Jason and I (oh wait we are alone together again) walked down to my car and in my seat he had flowers for me (sigh). I thought that was very thoughtful, although it was probably his mom's thought, not his so much. thanks Kaylene.

At the reception I don't remember a lot. I remember my cousin Luke coming through the line. he was wearing a black golf type shirt with red pinstripes. (our colors were red, white and black) not sure if he did that on purpose or not but it made me remember him.

I remember some strange girl I had no idea who she was caught my bouquet. duh. and shoving the cake in Jason's face. He was pissed because it went up his nose and it hurt! oops! hahaha I am so funny! My mom's mission companion and good friend of the family (Sarilu) came from Colorado and she was the one who got us a damp cloth to clean ourselves with.
funny side story about the cake..........not sure Erica would like me sharing I'll get approval and share later.

Oh and I remember a tun, a tun of cousins and friends doing their part to help out and make it as nice as it could be, thanks everyone! :)

Yesterday I went to church by myself. Jason has been sick and both kids were a bit booger faced. It was so nice to be able to sit and listen to the speakers.
One of the talks got me thinking.........He was telling about how the temple is the best place to feel the Holy Ghost. He told about the first time he went through the temple. He said he was so nervous and anxious. He wondered how people could say the first time was so spiritual, when you have to worry about doing everything right and so on.
Then he told about the going into the celestial room and the feeling he felt in there, how strong the Spirit was in there. He talked about his beautiful wife in white and how happy and young she looked, it was so sweet.
What does this have to do with me? I started thinking of my first time through, lots of things come to mind, but the thing that got me while listening to Bro. Clayburn was how Happy I was to see My family (parents, and grandparents) All dressed in white, smiling at me, the one person who stands out the most Is my Grandpa Huddleston. He looked so clean, and ..............happy and good! I am glad I was able to have that experience and have that memory of him.
There is nothing like being in such a holy place with your family!

Fafard 5k

My cousin has a friend Carrie butler who has done our family photos and her brother is Brett Fafard. Brett was diagnosed with STAGE 3 testicular cancer in June of last year. He has since undergone surgery and six rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately this fall, his doctor found residual cancer and has decided that the next step is salvage chemotherapy, which will come in the form of back to back bone marrow transplants. His doctor has said that while he has a negligible chance of beating the cancer without these transplants, his chances increase to 70% if he has the transplants.

While Brett was very blessed to learn that he was approved for a primary insurance with medicaid as a backup, his primary insurance company has denied the first request for the procedure. Medicaid has agreed to move forward with the first transplant but is declining to provide the second. While one transplant is better then none, the Doctor feels that in order for Brett to be cancer free and return to leading a healthy life that he must have both transplants.
Carrie and her husband, Mike have been doing everything they can to help Brett with all of his medical expenses. But the fact of the matter is, they have a family of their own to take care of and they simply cannot come up with this money all by themselves and in the short amount of time they have left until Brett needs his second transplant.

If they could get 120,000 people to donate a dollar, then they will have made their goal!!

Carrie is organizing a "Fafard 5k" to help raise money for Brett. It will take place on February 27th at the Riverwoods in Provo. It is $20.00 a person.

I know a lot of you out there are runners or else know of people who are so please join us in this race! It is for such a good cause.
Brett will begin his first transplant at the beginning of February, and with your help, he will be finishing his last treatment at the end of March. If you have any questions about the race or how you can donate please visit (I don't know how to add a link...):

Dahlia playing with Amy's dog Mac. Dally is so brave, Mac does like kids! he is getting better though, now that Amy has moved back home with my parents he gets to be around the kids more! yeah for us not so yeah for Mac. the kids love him though especially Dahlia despite his impatience for them.

Mickey and Dahlia in their new P.J's from Grandma Torg, I forgot how to upload the pics, so they are in the opposite order that i meant them to be. I wanted them in order of how they happened, but thye are opposite, the next pics are just a few things we were busy doing in the month of December.
The Christmas sugar cookies of course,(bells, trees, stockings and gingerbread people) but this time I did them by myself, so I could do whatever I wanted and I really enjoyed it even if it did take all day!

Took the kids to the south town mall to see Santa, because he looks the most real, but he was kind of ornery and not very fun..........boo to you Santa. right after this someone told me the best way for your kids to get the swine flu or any other illness, is to take them and sit them on Santa's lap! would have been nice to know before hand, although I am pretty sure we would still have taken them, just would have been more germ cautious. but they didn't get sick thank goodness!

I know I haven't updated in forever! I got a new camera and have yet to figure out how to get my pics off of it and onto my computer. I am kind of scared to try things because I don't want to ruin anything.
We are pretty much all ready for Christmas at our house, just need to get the grandpas gifts, but that SHOULD be easy. Mickey and Dahlia LOVE Christmas time and everything that goes along with it: lights, presents, Santa, parties, decorations, candy and treats, and Baby Jesus. I ask Mickey at least once a day why we celebrate Christmas and he thinks for a minute then says, "Jesus" and I say,"what about Jesus?" and he says, "he was born." thats good for now right?
Jason and I are enjoying the Santa threat, but we double up and also use the Grinch threat, that if Mickey is naughty the Grinch will come steal Christmas, that one seems to work better for him!
We got a bunkbed for the kids. they climb ALL OVER it. Dally has only slept in the bed once before and I put her in it tonight because she was soo tired i figured she wouldnt goof around and get out and she is now fast asleep.
I will work on getting my pics on the computer so I can post more!

our first family vacation

It was a blast! the kids were so fun! They loved it and had so much fun. everything about the vacation was new and exciting for them, even the hotel room and badContinental breakfast in St. George. Mickey is usually such a good sleeper in the car that we didn't worry about him being a problem at all, but he was on a high and hardly slept at all, but was still a good boy considering.
My sister Amy works for the Red Lion in Idaho and she got us a great deal at the one in Anaheim that was only like a block and a half away from Disneyland, we were sad to leave the comfy beds and the maids cleaning up after us. We popped popcorn and watched aChristmas movie every night we stayed there.
Mickey loved the rides at Disneyland! especially the Matterhorn, thunder and space mountain. Dahlia on the other hand was "scawed" (scared) the whole time, mostly because the rides are dark and all have a scary element. (small world was closed). I think Dahlias favorite ride was the Pooh Bear ride, because it was the only one that wasn't dark or scary, plus we got to see Pooh,Tigger and Eeyore after the ride, she LOVED that.
Dahlia wasn't tall enough to go on space, thunder and splash mountain. they had the nicest thing where one of us could take mickey then afterward the other could take mickey, go through the exit and get right back on the ride. Wedidn't really need it on splash and thunder mountain though we hit those first thing Wednesday morning and there was no line!
We did Disney on Monday then Seaworld Tuesday and Disney again Wednesday. we probably should have done Seaworld first. I think if we would have the kids would have appreciated it more, well mickey anyway. Dahlia loved the watching the walrus, sadly Jason was with Mickey on the simulator ride so we didn't have the camera for the walrus. they had a few sesame street rides that i thought were pretty lame, but it was probably Mickeys favorite part aboutSeaworld . they also had a big jungle gym/play area that was fun to do in between shows. my favorite show was the Pets Rule show, I think the kids really liked that one too.
We never made it to the beach, but we were fine with it, I really didn't want to deal with the sand and convincing Mickey it was safe on the day we started our long drive home.

We finally get to go to DISNEYLAND!
we are so EXCITED!

Tomorrow is Mickeys HALLOWEEN PARTY at preschool!
Friday is the HALLOWEEN PARTY at my moms!
then after the Halloween party we are going to GRANDMA TORGS HOUSE!
Saturday is carving pumpkins and trick or treating in West Jordan.
After trick or treating we are driving to ST. GEORGE to sleep for the night.
Sunday we get up early drive to Las Vegas to stop at the M&M FACTORY, and maybe the Rain Forrest cafe!
then comes the LONG drive through the dessert
...hope we don't break down, because we don't have cell phones...
later that night we will check into the Red Lion in Anaheim (thanks Amy)
Disney land here we come!
oh and we are going to Sea world one day and hope to find time for the beach, even thought Mickey says he doesn't want to go cause he is scared of crabs.

Olivia Lee Torgerson is the newest addition to the Torgerson Family. Daughter of Lindsee and Tyson (Tyson is Jason's brother) She was born Aug. 31st? We all love her so much already. About two weeks ago we were able to take a drive up the canyon to view the leafs, we went up Black Smith Fork Canyon here in Hyrum. There were tons of beautiful leafs, but not a lot of places to take any pics of the kids. I found this ONE orange tree on the side of the road, but by that time the kids were kind of ornery, so I only got a few good pics, not to mention we say a dead snake and Jason kept saying, " watch out for the snakes." The kids were not about to put their backs to the bushes and smile.

-Monty is a wuss, whines in the cold, so he is in the house a lot more driving us all crazy!
-the girl down the street nose runs like crazy when it is cold :/
-Dahlia doesn't like long sleeves or long pants. sleeves seem to get in the way and all pants are way to long for her because she has such short legs.
-my kids love to shove things down the heat vent registers
-the smell of the horses isn't so bad while working in the garden.
-we got a ton of tomatoes this year and a pretty good amount of peppers.
-my kids have grown a lot more then i realized since March/April, the last time they wore their warm clothes.
-I am even less of a morning person when it is cold!
- JASON LOVES HEAT!!

We have had such a fun summer this year! our kids are both at very fun ages and old enough to take along to most things we like to do. I am sad summer is over. I like the freedom of summer, staying up late, letting the kids stay up late, no school for Mickey, and Jason worked four days a week instead of five so we got three day weekends every weekend!
When the school year drew nearer, Jason and I got antsy to get out of town. The two of us haven't had a real vacation since November 2003 when we went to Disney Land and Sea World.
I have always wanted to visit the national parks in Utah and was looking over an atlas at work, while talking to the guys I work with. Finally one asked when we were going there. I laughed and said, "who knows, I would love to we just need to find time." He suggested we take off that weekend since it was out last three day weekend. He told us to leave the kids with grandparents and take off! At the time it sounded really simple and like a wonderful idea. I went home and told Jason we should do it, not really seriously, I just said it. Jason just kind of laughed and that was the end of it.
Jason gets off work at four pm, at 3:30 on Wednesday ( the next day) Jason called me and told me that he had taken Thursday off so we could leave that night! I started calling the Grandparents and trying to find people to watch the kids. this was not an easy task, both our moms work full time and my sister Kayla had to work Thursday. The weekend wouldn't be a problem it was Thursday that was hard to find someone to watch them. Another obstacle we had was that I had signed up to help with the dinner at the ward party on Friday. to this Jason said, " see that's why you never sign up for anything." I finally found a girl in our ward to do it for me. Next we realized we had left Dahlia pack n' play at Jason's parents house so she would have no where to sleep at my parents house that night and the next night. I began calling everyone in the ward I thought would have one, my mom even called a couple people she thought would have one. no one was answering the phone and it just kept getting later and later. Finally one of my good friends from the primary called me back and she had one we could barrow and she even delivered it to me. My sister Bobi agreed to watch the kids on Thursday, and Jason got work off form his other job.
We left our house that night at nine, got to my moms house in Garland, put the kids to bed and left there at about ten or so. We drove to West Jordan to Jason's patents house and we stayed there that night. Thursday we were on our way.
We went to Bryce canyon national park sat up camp, hiked one beautiful hike that evening. It was so nice with an over cast so it was not hot at all! then we got some dinner and it poured on us and our tent. By the time we got back to camp after we ate the rain had stopped. we started a fire and sat and visited, with no T.V. ,no computer, and NO KIDS to interrupt or distract us from each other. That night was my favorite of the whole trip!
The next day we did another hike, but not near as pretty and it was very LONG. that wore us right out, so after that we just drove to all the look out points and then headed down to I think it was Red Canyon national park? It is on the way out of Bryce canyon. That was pretty and we would have liked to spend our time and energy there instead of on that ugly hike we did earlier that day. we were tired so we didn't spend a whole lot of time there.
After that we drove to St. George, it was a pretty drive through some canyon in the duck creek area. That night we went to dinner and a movie. The plan was to make it to Vegas, but we decided to just stay there. So the next day we went shopping for the kids and me of course and a little for Jason. Then we went to Sand Hollow, it is a reservoir about ten- fifteen minutes outside St. George. It was so pretty and the water was warm with lots of big rocks to play on and jump off of and Jason even did a little cliff jumping! I don't do that, just ask my sister Amy. Then we went to dinner and a movie again that night.
The next day we headed home. but took a detour so we could go through Richfield. Jason has lots of great childhood memories there. His great grandma "Richfield" ( I can't remember her real name, they all call her grandma Richfield) Lived there and they use to go down a lot to visit and stay over long weekends.
We had such a good time, even the long drives were pleasant and enjoyable with out kids to entertain and keep happy. We hope to do this more often! BIG Thanks to EVERYONE who made this possible! Thanks to my wonderful husband and the "good times"!

I am so behind on blogging! Dahlias birthday was on the third. this is kayla and I bringing her the ugly cake we made her! but it was yummy, I guess.

we are not really very good fishers, we caught nothing. Jason was in his spot for about twenty minutes.......no bites. He pulled his pull out and came to help me with something. some little kid walks upto the exact spot jason was at, throws in his line and two seconds later yells, " dad, I caught a fish!"

dahlia and mommy sitting by the lake, Dahlia loved throwing rocks in the water, maybe that had something to do wiht us not catching any fish. she kept bending over right there to pick up rocks. I was so nervous she was going to fall in.

We found a little hiking trail right off the lake. It looked more promising then the fish so we tried it out. I was fun but it got really hot right after I took this pic and I couldnt put dally down on the steep hill, I was hurring to get to some shade!

I found this moss just like this. someone left it there for to tell me they loved me!!

Mickey and Dally loved playing in grandmas motor home!!

we were able to go camping with Jason's family!! it was a lot of fun once we got there.... it took us about eight hours to get to the place that should take only two hours at the most. we were following Jason's uncle and cousin up with their motor home and truck pulling a fifth wheel, the motor home and truck started over heating on a small hill, then the motor homes brakes ended up freezing up, so AAA had to come and tow it to a shop. then the truck couldn't make it even down the highway pulling the trailer without over heating so we had to stop and leave the trailer on the side of the road, then no more stops after that. all together I think we stopped about 8- 10 times. Jason's other very kind uncle ended up going and picking up the trailer and bringing it up.

Dahlias favorite thing to do was get Dad to through rocks into the river. she would pint in that direction and say... "raw..........raw....raw..raw" over and over until he would finally take her.

the best part about camping is "Grandma Great Great" or Jason's grandma torg. this is dahlia feeding grandma grapes. It reminded me of the movie "Aladin" when the sultan (jasmines dad) is feeding jafars parrot the crackers.

we got the tees out and these little balls that remind me of the balls in the Mcdonalds ball pit. usually mickey wants nothing to do with sports, especially if you try to play with him and teach him. I think he feels pressured, so he just shuts down. It was funny because Jason and I were in my moms house talking about that exact thing. we walked outside and kayla had him hiiting balls off the tee, then Dahlia got excited and joined in too, I was really surprised and impressed that mickey liked it so much!

This is Mickey holding his first real cousin Caprie, she sat on his lap like this for about temn minutes strait, I was really surprised she didnt fuss or cry. It made Mickey feel so special because Caprie loved him to hold her! Dahlia just thought she was the best thing ever. every time I would hold her Dahlia would cry. she was jealous of me not the baby, she just wanted to hold the baby. I would sit her down put the baby on her lap, then the baby would start to fuss and cry so I would pick her back up, then Dally would start to cry, because she wanted to hold the baby even if she was crying.

this is my second post with this title. this was a few days before the very talented Micheal past. we were in the car on the way home from grama juwees. we are listening to what the kids call the scary song (thriller) sorry you cant hear it.

K here is the plan.
As most of you know Jason has been going to school on and off the entire time I have known him. Most people either wait until they are done with school to get married or wait till they are done with school to have children......we did not........ so here we are still struggling to get through school.
Jason has found a two year program at SLCC that he is interested in. It is the OTA program (occupational therapist assistant). right now he is working on two of the pre rec. classes he needs to be excepted into th program. He has to pass the classes with at least a B, so we are working very hard every night. Summer classes are very compact. They cover a lot of info in a short amount of time. The program only starts each fall semester and is full time. (8am-3 or 4pm, mon-thurs).
what about work?..... well the plan is to sell our home next spring/summer and move in with very kind and gracious, Mom and Dad Torgerson, into their basement. I will work in the evenings and weekends, and Jason will have the summers off to make some money.
This is our plan as of now. it is a year away so there are many factors that could happen to change our plan, but if all goes well (and we pray that they will) we will be living in the salt lake valley next fall, and THE BEST PART Jason wont have to clean poopers for a living anymore! He has for years just to support his family and make us all happy and comfortable, he has put his life on hold for us, and for that I am very grateful! For that reason he is MY super hero, my MAN, my LOVE. thanks Jason for all you do for us, I know it isnt easy AT ALL. I love you and admire you soooo much, sorry I dont always show it.

its been so long since i blogged i cant even remember how to do it, these were supposed to go last because i wanted you to see that her face was so dirty but not to worry because monty is on cleaning face duty.

we put dahlia in an old pair of mickeys pajamas, actually they still kind of fit Mickey, he would still wear them if we didnt put them on dally the other night! She loves them and the ball on them. we think she looks adorable in them and wish we had more of mics pajamas in good condition for her.

baby number one had lots of thick dark hair.long eye lashes and pretty beat up, i pushed for over two hours.

baby number two had light crazy hair! came out screaming and pushing the snot sucker out of the way. the doctor asked us if we were sure we wanted such a fiesty baby.

WHAT WILL BABY NUMBER THREE LOOK LIKE, WE WILL BE FINDING OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER SOME TIME.
WE are in big time shock as many of you probably are, we thought we were done, so if we gave you any baby things, we may be needing them back. OOPS! we didnt really know how to tell anyone this or who to tell first so we are announcing it to everyone all at the same time!

mwc tournament

As I have mentioned many times before, Jason needs a vacation desperately. He has always wanted to go to Vegas for the tournament down there. We have been expecting our taxes to come any day, so Jason said if our returns come in time that we would go down. I just said okay, thinking the money wouldn't come in time. The tournament started on Thursday, and the money came on Friday. To late you say? not for Jason, more like just in time. so we called Jason's mom to see if she would watch the kids for the weekend, she agreed, so kind, at the last minute.
I was telling Mickey about our plans, he asked if we were going to sleep over at grandma torgs. I said," yes, you are." he smiled and kind of laughed, "are you teasing mom?" i said, "no" he said, " we cant sleep over, we have the pajammy party tomorrow." I forgot all about the Primary Party Saturday morning that we had been planning for the last month, so I couldn't go. I called Jason's brother and asked if he could go with Jason. So the two took off and headed down. they went to i think four basketball games in less then 24 hours! kind of glad I couldn't go. so he finally got a little small vacation, I guess. Utah won the tournament so it made it even more exciting! I have never seen Jason take so many pictures! don't worry I will spare you and only post a few of the many pics.

I think he took a picture of every player cutting his piece of the net off, they all look the same to me. sorry i cant tell you their names either.

At mickeys birthday party as I was taking pictures, my littlest sister, Bobi kept asking if it was going on the blog, then she insisted I take a good picture of her and Amy to put up, after about twenty tries this is what we came up with.

here he is putting the goo in the mold, concentrating hard, this is the only one Jason let him do by himself, I think Jason enjoyed the toy just as much as Mickey.

this was the torg family party the first of all celebrations, grandma and grandpa gave him the scooter and Lincoln logs. Megan and Brady gave him the helmet to keep him safe.

mickey wanted a smile face cake, so this is what we came up with, while waiting for everyone to come he kept getting up on the chair and looking at it like this, I think he really liked it, He didn't JUST look though he poke it, then proudly told me he put polka dots on it!

we gave mickey a party with friends this year, his first. he thought he was so cool, he tells everyone about the sponge bob "pinana", that Jason ended up having to break open.

we decorated the room to look like we were in the water. Mickey enjoyed making the sea creatures.

grandma and grandpa gave him a box full of art supplies, mickey loves cutting, coloring, painting, and gluing. as you can tell so does the rest of my family. here they all are (except kyle who couldn't make it) gathered around our kitchen table making valentines and such.

here is mickey opening the sponge bob fishing pole Kayla gave him, she also gave him a Nerf gun, that I was nervous about, for some reason everybody thinks it is SO fun to make me the target with things like that.

Mickey also got to celebrate his birthday at preschool, where he made his own birthday crown, got to sit in the birthday chair all day, shared some funfetti cupcakes, then I went at the end to read the kids one of mickeys favorite books and bring some pictures of mickey to tell the kids about. Mickey thought he was so cool having his mom in class, it will be sad when he starts to get embarrassed by me. I am enjoying it while it lasts.

I wanted to thank all of you for the great recipe ideas, especially Erica. So in return I thought i would share an easy but very yummy recipe with all of you.

Lime Chicken Tacos (crock pot)

1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken
3T lime juice
1T chili powder
1C frozen corn
1C chunky salsa
12 flour tortillas, warmed
as "fixins":
sour cream, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese
place chicken in a slow cooker. combine lime juice and chili powder; pour over chicken. cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours. remove chicken, cool slightly. shred and return to the slow cooker. stir in corn and salsa. cook on low for 30 min. serve in tortillsa with optional items

(my fridge and microwave are in competition to see who can die first)
-more hair clients (to make some extra money, and I miss doing hair)
-more energy (I always have so much i want to do, but i run out of energy)
-garage, the mud is no fun and I feel bad for Jason at 3:40 in the morning scrapping the snow and ice off the car.
-lamps for my living room
-new camera (I'm sure Jason is sick of hearing about it)

-a place to put a sewing machine
-vacation for Jason, he hasn't been on vacation for five years! He sent me to Hawaii in the fall of 2006, I know.... I know.
- also would like to have more knowledge with computers. haven't taken a computer class since I think my sophomore year.
-printer so I can better fulfill my calling.
-better relationships with my siblings

I have a very long list and there are definitely more things i could think of, but these are the main ones i have been thinking about lately. January is a hard month for me....I feel a lot of guilt. a lot of the things on my list would help relieve some of my guilt. If I had a dishwasher perhaps I would spend less time at the sink and more time on the kids bedroom floor. If I had a printer I wouldn't have to make everyone else pick up my slack. If I had more hair clients I could take some weight of Jason's shoulders. The rest of the stuff is just me getting caught up in the world and thinking I need more.

I am really grateful for all the things we do have:
- our house
- our vehicles
- our wonderful healthy kids
- Jason and I and our relationship that continues to get better and grow all the time
- Jason's jobs
- our families and the relationships we have with them
- our good friends
- my calling
- the gospel
- the ability to do hair to make some extra money
- the ability to stay home with my kids

As some of you know I finally started cooking this summer. well now I am struggling with ideas, i have about ten meals I make and we like, but we need something new. so please give me some help either put a recipe on my blog as a comment or post it on your blog and i will get it there. I like easy things, remember I am a rookie and also if there are any funny/different ingredients in your recipes please tell me where to find them in the grocery store. thanks I am looking forward to some new meal ideas. oh and here are some of our regulars just so you dont give me that recipe: meat rolls, tacos, chicken casserole, chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, chicken pillows, zitti.

January 3rd

here is Jason's birthday cake i finally made it work, this was my third attempt at this cake, if you have been following my post you will see that my first attempt was Kayla's birthday. check it out it was in august.

by now you should all know I am a slow blogger, Jason's birthday was ten days ago and I am now just putting the pics up. We were in Salt Lake that week, we went to the Utah basketball game on new years eve, then stayed up late playing games. then the next day Jay and I were able to get away together to see a movie in a theatre! something that only happens about three or four times a year. we also went to lunch at spaghetti mommas. which by the way was very yummy, and had a very nice atmosphere as well. It was a very nice day we always love our time alone together so we can carry on a conversation with out worrying about little ears, or big screams! Jason's birthday fell on a Saturday and we threw a bay shower for his sister Holly. thanks to Brady, Jay got to ditch out on the shower and go to another Utah basket ball game with Ty.

Oh! I almost forgot the most important thing! Friday night was the Sugar bowl, we went to uncle Kori's to watch the game. It was one of the most fun and shocking games I have witnessed. Go Utes!

we came home Saturday night then Sunday we had birthday cake!

careful Jay don't burn the house down. ha ha i am so funny! never heard that joke before.

I have been thinking about the things you do that make me smile and wanted to know, so:

although this first one can sometimes also make me frown it makes me smile and sometimes even laugh when you attach yourself so emotionally to a sports game that you yell LOUD at the TV and with a little bit of whine in your voice like your going to cry.

I love when I get in the car after you have been driving with the kids in the back and I try to look at the vehicle behind me in my rear view mirror and only see car seats. I love that you don't want to miss what silly or typical thing they are doing, but probably not the safest idea.

when I come to bed after you and you have the bed all warm for me, I love to cuddle your warm body.

when I offer to go do my job and you refuseto let me and do it for me.

christmas day

this is mickey at about nine pm christmas night after my sisters amy and bobi got him all dressed in whatever they could find to go out and play in the snow! they stayed out till like ten.

this was at my moms house christmas night after we opened presents Amy and Mickey were throwing all the wrapping paper on dalli and she loved it.

this is mickey trying to play the guitar he got from Kayla, he needs to learn how to hold it. it was the perfect gift for him because Jason got guitar hero for christmas so the next day the both got up and played their guitars together.

this is Jay and dee playing with the doll house santa braught, it didnt wrap it just left it out for her so we had hard time getting her to open any gifts, she just wanted to play with it.

December was a big blur to me but here are a few things I did take some pictures of going from the end of december to the first.

this is at the big torg family christmas party. this santa has had the same suit and beard since jason was mickeys age. luckily the kids dont notice.

Dahlia was so brave, didnt cry or eve reach for me, even after she got her gift, all the other kids her age were scared of santa, dahlia was just so serious the look on her face in the picture was the look on her face the whole like five minutes that she just sat on santas lap and stared at every body, except when mickey yelled "Dahlia" and smiled at her then she smiled for a brief second at him. it was a little akward when she wouldnt come back to me. I wasnt sure what to do, and santa didnt seem to want to give her up.

For enrichment in our ward we did a cookie exchange. everyone took three dozen cookies of their own to exchange then when you came home you would have a variety of three dozen cookies. It was a good idea and a fun activity.

we went to Grandma Julees house this year my family was all there and my dad went down to salt lake to pick up Grandma Joy it was nice having her there she doesnt drive so she cant just come visit unless she has a ride.
Everybody helped with dinner even the "lazy kids", as Amy called them, went to the store and bought four different kinds of rolls.

while i was preparing my dishes for dinner the night before mickey and Dahlia wanted to help so i put a chair next to the counter for them to stand on and make............well something. it had water and sugar and flour, i think.

Manny's Christmas

One of my favorite things about Christmas is the books and stories that go along with it, especially if they remind me of the true meaning of christmas. Mannys Christmas by Kyle Crane is one of those. If you have ever felt like Christmas is an obligation or is overwhelming or hurried. this book will help you find the grace and joy of christmas again. or if you just like to read christmas books. it took me about fourty five minutes to an hour to read, so it is just short, but to the point. read it, it will make you feel good. thanks Brittany!

headaches and blessings

this is our new water heater. that we HAD to get.

last weekend we went to salt lake to finish up a huge painting project, we came home sunday morning to get ready for and go to church, I was still out in the car in front of out house when I heard it.... and at first I thought the battery in our smoke detector had gone out. you know that annoying beep.....beep.....beep, really loud? by the time i got the kids and came in the house Jason had found where the noise was coming from. It was this little gadget here.

It is a Carbon monoxide alarm, and i highly recomend everyone get one and if you do have one make sure the batteries work. It saved my life and my families life. we would have not known there was any problem at all with out it. so we called the gas co. and they said they would send some one over asap, but i did not feel comfortable staying in the house and especially did not want the kids in it. so we left jason there with all the windows open to wait, for what turned out to be an hour, for the "gas man" his little detector gadget thing shows the levels of co2, the highest level being 4000. with all the windows open the level was still 4000 in our house. he said it was the coming from the water heater, ours was twelve years old and had some corrosion so the co2 was leaking instead of going out the top pipe thing. he told us to have a plumber come look at it, so i called a guy in our ward i had only met once who is a plumber to come look at it, he came that day after church and said he could get us a new one for a really good price.
My parents just replaced their water heater too, and they installed it themselves and it still cost them about twice as much as ours did and this guy installed it for us too! what a great guy!

this is mickey and Dahlia playing in the box tghat our new dryer came in while dad was installing it, they were laughing and giggling. it was there house.

thats right we got a bran spanking new dryer! our old one that we bought of the side of the road a year and a half ago finally went out, thank heavens, it was ruining our garments.

Oh yeah we got a new washer to go with it, front load, so it is more energy efficient, I am now a little green! these can be stacked to wich we hope to do in the future, I want to eventually redo my laundry room, to make the space in there more useful.

Baby Jane

This summer when the Grandma and Grandpa Torg came up for the "cruise in" apparently Grandpa told Mickey that this old house was the "baby Jane house" I know this because mickey would always ask to go see the baby Jane house. At first I didn't know what he was talking about, but then he told me that Grandpa had shown him the baby Jane house and he would point the the direction of where we parked when we went to the cruise in. So after driving around, we found this house. For those of you who don't know baby Jane is scary! there was a way old movie called what ever happened to baby Jane, i think was the name of it. Any of Jason's siblings or cousins would know the real name so correct me if i am wrong.
Well Bobi had a volley ball game at Logan High which just happens to be right across the street form the baby Jane house. I parked in front of the house and Mickey got nervous, I wanted to get his pic by it so we could show grandpa Torg. he was really nervous about turning his back on it. and kept yelling at Dahlia not to get close.

On halloween night we both took the kids trick or treating. we were so glad for the good weather, no coats to cover up costumes! Jason was Jason from Crystal lake, Dahlia was a balerina.

Mickey changed his mind five or more times on what he was going to be until Jason convinced him to be a mummy. first he wanted to be a car, then frankenstien, then a mummy, then a scare crow, then back to a mummy.

oh and i was a witch, thanks to Megan letting me barrow her hat.

We have a tradition in my family to make sugar cookies, the only problem with our tradition is it is not firm or ever the same, but we love to make, and frost sugar cookiesaround the holidays. sometimes it is valentines day, christmas or this year we did Halloween cookies. Sometimes everone helps some, sometimes its just a few of us, and sometimes its just my mom and I, it is more fun when more people help! this time it was my mom and I and kind of Mickey and then Kyle came home and helped decorate a few too.

My kids are so lucky! they have two of the best grandmas ever! Grandma Torg and Grandma Julee make the holidays fun, I am so grateful we are able to live within driving distance of both grandmas.

Both grandmas have lots of fun costumes at their house that Mickey loves to try on. Dahlia gets to too, but not sure that she LOVES it.

I told you about the fun halloween package Grandma Torg sent with the movie, and halloween pajamas for the kids, slippers and hair accesories for Dahlia, candy pencils, erasers and more! We get packages from Grandma Torg often because she lives in Salt lake and cant just drop them off herself, it is always a good day when we get a package!

When ever Grandma Julee comes this month she brings her halloween bag, wich contains halloween surprises for the kids, such as costumes, masks, treats, stickers, flannel board game, books and more! one day she brought crete paper and lanterns to decorate mickeys room.
